This section holds intuitive and fantasy paintings by Bridget Orlando
of forests, beasts and wildernesses, some avaiilable to buy.
"The work in these pages are about the surface on which I was working.
The approach of the subject matter is similar to the paintings in the rhythms section,
in as much as it is about finding the form through mark making.
Using a textured surface offered some challenges, one cannot draw freely, and at times,
with some of the more textured surfaces, such as with the leaves, the brush strokes were
obstructed. I liked the broken surface, the fact that the lines had to be bold to be seen.
These painings are wild places, forests full of beasts. Using grass or leaves in some of them was
ike bringing some real nature into them, something tangible, something physically there
rather than simply by design.
In some of the other paintings, the idea was about working on found objects, the images
cover the surface like moss on a stone. Again it is about working on a broken or interupted
surface, but also with some pieces undefined edges.
The space within these paintings is very close, and the boundaries unclear. It is as if I am
trying to drag pieces of my imagination into the real world"
